Sheep Creek
Outfitters is a small family outfitting business located in
the West Yellowstone, Montana Area. I am a full-time outfitter with over thirty years
experience hunting Elk, Mule Deer, & other Big Game
in the Rocky Mountains. We take only a limited
number of hunters per season, approximately fourteen to sixteen
rifle hunters and eight archery hunters. Each hunt period is an
eight day trip (six actual hunt days) and a nine day trip (seven
actual hunt days) for archery. The two non-hunting days are
pack-in and pack-out days. We take only four hunters per hunt.
We are licensed to operate two
horseback pack-in camps in the Gallatin National Forest,
outfitter license #5373. Our archery camp is located
fourteen miles from the Sheep Creek Trail, high in the Henry's
Lake Mountains, where early September to mid October,
bugling elk are found during the rut. Our rifle camp is located
five miles from the trailhead and centrally located to our elk
and mule deer area. Season runs from mid October to late
November.
We conduct all our hunts with
two-on-one guide or one-on-one guide service. Camp consists of
canvas type wall tents with wood and propane heat. A 16x20 tent
serves as our center of high camp operations and is also our
cook tent. We offer full service breakfast and dinners, with a
sack lunch. Coffee is always hot and hospitality is plentiful!
We ride horses to our hunt areas,
but most actual hunting is done on foot. BE IN SHAPE!
Other hunts available are shiras
moose (drawing) and fall black bear.
